Asylum & Human Rights Law

The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) in an international treaty to protect Human Rights and fundamental freedoms of every person in Europe. The Human Rights Act 1998 has been implemented in the United Kingdom since 2000 and enforces the ECHR within the United Kingdom. Following this, any decision made regarding an individual’s right to enter or remain in the United Kingdom has had to be compatible with the requirements set out under the Human Rights Act 1998. Likewise, the Immigration Rules must ensure that it complies with Human Rights laws.
