How We Can Obtain Your Company A Sponsorship Licence?

Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence Application

Following the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union and the fallout of Brexit, all companies who wish to employ skilled workers from outside the United Kingdom who do not have the right to work or live in the UK will need a Licence in order to comply with the law.
The Tier 2 Sponsor Licence:

  • Allows a UK Company to source talent from outside the UK. Occasionally, local talent is not enough to fill staff vacancies which, can affect your company's productivity. With a Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence, you will have the ability to recruit employees from outside the UK.
  • Required the Company to conform with ongoing compliance obligations. The Home Office will expect you to have robust systems in place to ensure that the migrant skilled workers you hire do not breach immigration laws.
  • It allows non-UK National employees to transfer to a UK branch. If your Company has headquarters or a Branch outside the UK, but you need to temporarily bring an employee to the UK, having a Sponsorship Licence will allow you to do so.

We understand that efficiency, both in terms of money and workforce is important to any successful business. At Cranbrook Legal, our commercial awareness sets us apart from other immigration law firms.

Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence FAQ’s

1. Does my Company need to be profitable?

No, but your Company should be able to demonstrate that it can afford to pay any potential employee

For small and charitable organisations, the fee is £536 and for medium or large sized businesses it is £1,476.

Yes. As long as your Company is lawfully operating there is no “timeframe” for a company to be trading before it can apply for a Licence.

No, the key contacts must hold senior positions with the Company.

After you submit the Application and provide the Home Office with your supporting documents, it can take on average up to 6-8 weeks for a decision. This is the average time which means from time to time, decisions can be made quicker or later.

If the Home Office finds that you have not complied with your duties as a Sponsor, your Licence can be suspended or revoked which will result in your Skilled Worker employee losing their job.

As a Sponsor, you must update the Home Office with all material changes. This includes but not limited to:

  • The Skilled Worker leaving
  • Changes to employment terms
  • Long term absences

The Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence will be valid for 4 years after which you can renew the Licence.
