A client of our immigration law firm, a citizen of Brazil, was seeking a Spouse visa to join her husband, a British national, in the UK.
During the application process, she realised that her birth certificate had been misplaced. In the absence of this crucial document, she feared the potential delay or refusal of her visa application.
Our specialists in UK immigration law worked at pace to address our client’s issue. We guided her in the process of obtaining a certified copy of her birth certificate from Brazil, and we made sure it was properly translated into English by an approved translator.
In the meantime, we also assisted the client with the task of compiling additional supporting documents to strengthen her application.
To minimise the chances of delays, we submitted a letter explaining the steps being taken to retrieve the missing document and requested the Home Office’s understanding in the matter. By acting swiftly and proactively, we kept the client’s application on track.
Given that Cranbrook Legal were not instructed on the initial visa application, we advised the client on where the application lacked documents. We advised her that she had a window of opportunity to provide the documents that would help strengthen her application.
Following this, our client obtained the documents quickly. We provided these documents to the Home Office, together with the missing birth certificate and a covering letter explaining the inclusion of the new documents.
There were, fortunately, no unnecessary delays; our client was soon granted a Spouse visa. This result owed much to our prompt and efficient handling of the missing document issue.
The client is now happily settled in the UK with her husband, relieved that despite the initial setback, her visa application process went smoothly.
