A UK citizen approached Cranbrook Legal to assist their spouse in applying for a UK spouse visa.
The couple had been in a long-distance relationship for several years, having met each other while the UK citizen was working in Brazil. After his post ended and he returned to the UK, the couple remained in a relationship, visiting each other in both the UK and Brazil.
While apart, the couple kept in touch using modern means of communications. More recently, the UK citizen and his wife married each other in a ceremony in Brazil attended by friends and family.
The couple were eager to start their life together in the UK as the UK citizen was in full time employment here in the UK, earning a good salary. They decided that employment stability was a crucial factor in deciding where to settle. The UK citizen had been employed with the same employer for over two years and was earning well in excess of £18,600.
Our team carefully assessed the couple’s situation, guided them through the financial and accommodation requirements, and helped them gather the necessary evidence to prove their genuine relationship.

After a review of the documents, we completed the online visa application form for the client to review. We also drafted legal representations which explained the law relied upon, and how the client’s circumstances fell within those rules, together with the documents which supported the assertions. After the client’s approval, our immigration team submitted the application, uploaded the client’s documents, and arranged the biometric appointment at the visa application centre.
The spouse visa application was successful after a short wait of six weeks, allowing the couple to reunite and begin their life together in the UK.
