A well-regarded care home, known for its high-quality elderly care, needed to recruit skilled international healthcare workers to address staffing shortages.
They approached Cranbrook Legal for help with the sponsor licenc e application process and were particularly concerned about potential Home Office compliance visits, which could be announced or unannounced.
Cranbrook Legal has assisted hundreds of care homes to obtain s ponsor l icences during and since the COVID-19 pandemic. The care home were aware of Cranbrook Legal’s strong reputation and were sure that we would understand their concerns.
We guided them through the requirements – including the necessary documents – and paid particular attention to the need for a care home to be regulated.
Our team advised and helped prepare and gather all the documentation that would be needed for a successful application, including liaising with the company a ccountants.
To address the care home’s anxiety about compliance visits, we offered a mock compliance visit. This training session simulated an actual Home Office inspection, reviewing their HR systems and record keeping practices to ensure they met all regulatory standards.
After our client was both confident and prepared with the application that had been put together , they submitted the application to the Home Office. Given their urgent need to hire staff, they opted to apply using the Home Office premium service, which would give them a result within 10 working days.
Six days after submitting their application, the care home experienced an unannounced Home Office compliance visit. Thanks to our thorough preparation and mock visit, the inspection went smoothly, and the care home was granted their sponsor licence soon afterwards.
This allowed them to recruit the international healthcare workers they needed, alleviating staffing shortages and maintaining their high standards of care.
